Do you have what it takes to be a leader of the construction industry?
If your answer is yes, then you can stand for election to the OGCA Board of Directors. Each member firm is allowed just one person as a director. This could be your opportunity to make a lasting contribution to the construction industry.
As a member of the Board of Directors, you actively promote the OGCA's objectives, supervise OGCA affairs and exercise approval over the annual budget. You also participate with one of the standing committees and/or a task force, or provide a dedicated representative from your firm.
Membership in the OGCA automatically qualifies you to submit your name to the nominating committee.
The nominating committee strives to maintain a balance between Open Shop and Union companies, small and large contractors and regional representation for the Board of Directors.
The OGCA objectives you promote are:
- Protect the construction market for the services of general contractors and create an equitable environment for the general contracting industry;
- Maintain high standards in the contracting industry;
- Provide methods and means whereby individual members may avail themselves of the power of combined effort through the Association;
- Promote cordial and cooperative relations between general contractors and those with whom they deal or have contact with in the contracting industry;
- Seek correction of injurious, discriminatory or unfair business methods practiced by or against general contractors;
- Place the business risks assumed by general contractors as nearly as possible on a parity with the risks assumed by other industries;
- Cooperate fully with the Construction Safety Associations and other allied organizations to promote a strong accident prevention policy;
- Increase economy and efficiency in the contracting industry;
- Eliminate the occurrence of injury and death to construction workers;
- Foster a strong educational training programme; and,
- Do all such other things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above.
